Deauty box - April 2013

Hello!

It's the time of the month when I get my Deauty box. Deauty box is the only Belgian make-up & beauty subscription service. They are promising us (meaning people in Belgium) also the Glossy box but so far it ended up only with those promises so we still have to wait for it. But I am more than happy with the content of Deuaty boxes. The monthly subscription is 15€ (including shipping) which is an awesome prize for the amount of products you get. The selection of products, the selection of brands, the sizes of the samples (you always get at least one full-size product) and the number of actual products (usually around 5) are great. The only thing I feel I am missing is more make-up products. The Deauty box is more focused on skin care and hair care and from time to time they throw  some make-up product in (so far always from L'Oreal). But that's a minor thing which I am happy to overlook.

So to the actual April Deauty box. I am really excited about the content of this particular box. It contains:

  • sample size (5ml) of fragrance from Vanessa Tugendhaft - Or Blanc
  • full size (50ml) of Avéne Thermal water in spray
  • sample size (125ml) of Eucerine DermatoCLEAN micellar water 3in1
  • sample size (50ml) of The Body Shop Olive Body Butter
  • sample size (15ml) of Payot Hydra24 day cream
  • extra gift from Deauty - asian beauty mask

Vanessa Tugendhaft - Les Eaux Diamantées - Or Blanc perfume - 5ml
(full size: 50ml, 75€)

Vanessa Tugendhaft is famous Belgian jewelry designer and last year she launched her own fragrances inspired by her work. I got the fragrance called Or Blanc (White gold). The top tones: bergamot, pink bay and mint. The middle tones: fig, jasmine and orange blossom. The base notes: sweet wood, white musk, moss and gray amber. I have already tried this one and honestly I am not a fan of this scent. It's a pity because the sample size is really good and it's in a small roll-on bottle so it would be great just to fit in a small clutch when you are going out. But I have it on me now for almost five hours and the scent is too spicy for me. I prefer fresh, clean, citrusy scents and I cannot smell the middle tones there at all. So for me this is a disappointment but scents are very personal so for somebody else it can be perfect.

Avène - Eau Thermale spray - 50ml (full size, 2,50€)

This product is not new to me. I use this thermal water from Avène quite regularly for several years. To be honest I don't think it does much to your skin but it's perfect for those incredibly hot days when you are just melting and you need some refreshment. I always have it in my purse (it has an ideal size and packaging) and use it whenever I need it. I think this is product that cannot hurt but won't do miracles either. It claims to be soothing and anti-irritant so I think it would be great especially for sensitive skin. I have been happy with this product for a long time so I can only recommend it.

Eucerin - DermatoCLEAN micellar water 3in1 - 125ml
(full size: 200ml, 12,50€)

Another great skincare product suitable for sensitive skin. You cannot go wrong with this. It hydrates, purify and tone the skin at the same time. It's without perfume, alcohol, dyes and parabens. I have been using it for past three days now and I cannot say anything wrong about it. It didn't break me out and it did clean my skin quite nicely. Thumbs up for this!

The Body Shop - Olive Body Butter - 50ml
(full size: 200ml, 16€)

I was very happy to receive this product. I love Body Shop products. They have great scents which last a long time on your body whether you use a shower gel, a body lotion or a body butter. I haven't tried this product yet but I love the smell of it. You can call this unisex scent. My husband has already tried it today after a shower and it smelled amazing on him, not feminine at all. It contains cacao butter, Shea butter and olive oil. Yummy! If it will be moisturizing enough and it will absorb effortlessly then I will be definitely repurchasing it. Yay!

Payot - Hydra24 day cream - 15ml
(full size: 50ml, 42€)

And finally we have some luxurious product from the cosmetic brand Payot. It's a moisturizing day cream. It contains an extract from honey that locks the hydration in your skin for the whole day and night. And the extract of Baicalensis root, a powerful antioxidant, helps the skin to regulate the continuous flow of water and maintain perfect moisture at all levels of the epidermis. It supposes to be ideal for all skin types but I was a little bit skeptical at first since I get very oily in the T-zone. I have been using this cream for past few days (along with the Eucerin micellar water) and I have to say I am quite surprised that it doesn't make me oily at all. It absorbs really quickly and it leaves the skin smooth and satin to a touch. It haven't breaked me out so far but I will be using it till I finish the sample and then I will be able to give better review to this product. Fingers crossed. ;-)

Asian beauty mask

I think I would like to do a separate blog post about this product because it seems quite interesting concept. It's completely new way of using product to me so I don't dare to give it any hypothetical thumbs up or down. Let's be surprised.

Overall I am really pleased with the content of this Deauty box. A lot of new products which I am excited to try. The only disappointment was the fragrance but as I said scents are subjective and the concept of the product itself is very nice. Other products were either a long time favorites or something that I am eager to try. If I will find a new star among these products I will do a separate review. I cannot wait for the next Deauty box!

It's my birthday!

Yay!

Today is my B-day! Yes, I am one of those people who are actually happy that they are one year older.  And why not? Getting old is part of life and we should embrace all parts of it. So why to remind yourself that we are getting older, why to start your special day with looking in a mirror searching for wrinkles, why to count all the things that we wanted to accomplish by this time and we haven't, when there are many reasons to celebrate this day. For me it's very special B-day because it's the first time I am spending it with my husband. And look what I found on a table when I woke up this morning. Isn't it sweet? I also got a beautiful love letter from my husband later this day but it's too personal to share it.

So I just want to use this way to say thank you for everything that is happening in my life. I am so grateful to live such a privileged and beautiful life with the perfect man for me. You know, I believe there is no absolutely perfect person but I am sure that everyone can have the person that is perfect just for YOU. And I am so lucky that I found mine! Love you, babyboocious! xxx

I got the most beautiful Happy B-day song ever from my Nigerian in-law family. They are the best in the whole-wide world!

And to be also little bit (hm, maybe more than little - lol) materialistic I want to share what I got as my B-day gift from my man.

Yes, it's the new Kindle Paperwhite and I absolutely LOVE it. Finally I can read even when my hubby wants to sleep and I don't need to feel guilty when we go to bed and he asks me with a completely astonished face: "You still wanna read?". No, I am kidding. He never says anything but he covers himself with the blanket from head to toe and when I am done with my reading and switch the light off I can only hear from below the blanket very tired: "Finally." LOL

And later we had some delicious pizza. Yummy, yummy!

So that's all from me today. Enjoy life!

Welcome to my blog!

Hello!

This is a first-time experience for me as a blogger but it's something I wanted to do for a long time and finally I got the courage to DO IT. I guess it's only natural to first say something about me so you will not only get to know me a little bit before you start reading my posts but also for you to get an idea what the blog will be mostly about and what you can expect.

Well, my name is Funmilayo (not the real one, this name I got from my husband... lol) and I am 27 years. As you have probably guessed I am married (happily) and me and my husband live in Belgium. But originally I come from Czech Republic and my husband from Nigeria so you can already see that there is a lot of diversity in my life and the same thing you can expect from my blog.

My major hobby is make-up & beauty and everything about it. It something that became an obsession for me over the last years. So it will be probably the main topic of my blog because I can't just shut up about it. LOL. But beside that I have a lot of other hobbies, like reading (Hello, major reader here!), cooking (lately I am specializing on African meals), traveling, home decor and just the life in general. So I guess the blog will be about everything at the end.

I am very easygoing person with a tendency to romanticism but I am also very realistic when it comes to everyday life. But I am always trying to see the world from the brighter side and that side I would like to share with you. Everybody is welcome to my blog and I am always open to any meaningful discussion. So if you have anything to add, anything to criticize or just anything to say just feel free and SAY IT! I hope this will be something that will bring a little bit of joy not only to my life but also to all of you who stop by and spend some little time to read what I have to share. ENJOY!
